Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15th 1452.

Leonardo was born in Florence ( where we are now) in a house named Anchiano.

Leonardo lived most of his life at his house in Florence, studying and learning.

He made the flying machine (beleived to have inspired the modern day airplane or helicopter); the Anemomiter ( a device to measure the speed of the wind); the parachute (though credit for the invention of the first practical parachute usually goes to Sebastien Lenormand in 1783, Leonardo Da Vinci actually conceived the parachute idea a few hundred years before).

His most famous invention is the flying machine. Though the first actual helicopter was only built in the 1940s, it is believed that Leonardo Da Vinci's sketches from the late fifteenth century were a predecessor to the flying machine today.

His three most famous paintings and drawings are the Mona Lisa, the last supper, and the vitruvian man.

A strange fact is that Leonardo Da Vinci invented a flying ship!! :o

Another strange fact is that there is a theory that Mona Lisa was not a real person and she was only what Leonardo imagined himself looking like as a woman.

Why do you think he is famous?

Because he was the smartest man in his time, and he had to be very creative to invent and have all these great ideas that we use today. He was also very talented in many subjects, including: painting, sculpting,he was an architect, inventing, military engineering and he was a draftsman.
